July Summertime Activities

July is an patriotic month with exciting fireworks and picnics for the 4th of July, or Independence Day, plus travel plans that might include visits to patriotic destination around the United States. Lazy summer weekends are great picnics with grilled hot dogs followed by watching a patriotic movie. Find some favorite movies, hot dog recipes, and travel destination suggestions below.

Patriotic Movies for July
Take some time off during the hot summer days of July to watch a few patriotic movies to celebrate the patriotic 4th of July holiday. My all time favorite to watch is Air Force One. It still thrills me when The President takes back his plane. My grandson and I enjoyed watching Miracle together, while my cousin and I enjoyed our Italian dinner and wine while ogling Tom Cruise in Top Gun. I hope that you will find one or two of your favorite movies among my recommendations.

Patriotic July Destinations
Great ideas for places to visit during patriotic July summer vacations. It doesn't really matter what state you travel to, you'll find memorials and patriotic attractions to view, enjoy and be proud of.

Washington, DC
Plan to spend several days to a week or so if you are vacationing with your family. There is so much that you don't want to miss, such as the Jefferson Memorial, a tour of the White House, the black granite wall of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Ford's Theatre, the National Zoological Park, or try a unique spy adventure at the International Spy Museum. There is so much to do and see and enjoy and learn.

Pearl Harbor Memorial
A visit to the Pearl Harbor Memorial would be my suggest if are traveling anywhere in this area. The opportunity to pay respects to the fallen sailors and brave heroes of December 7, 1941, while feeling first hand the emotions of the Pearl Harbor attacks is something that all visitors to Hawaii should experience.

The Liberty Bell
Visit the Liberty Bell Center to view larger-than-life historic documents and graphic images to explore the facts and the myths surrounding the Bell.

July Hot Dog Recipes
It is said that Americans will eat an estimated 150 million hot dogs on the 4th of July. Browse some great hot dog recipes that your entire family will love.

Keep It Simple Hot Dogs
Just the basics for great tasting hot dogs.
The Great Chicago Hot Dog
My suggestion -- grill 'em, don't steam them.
Grilled Bacon-Wrapped Stuffed Hot Dogs
Stuffed with cheese, sauerkraut and onions, wrapped with bacon, and grilled.
Corn Cob Puppies
These puppies compete with the big dogs.
The Reuben Dog
This dog gets the blue ribbon.
