Food and Cooking Substitutes

If you've ever lived 60 miles from the nearest grocery store and you get to the grocery store only once a month, you will at some point be cooking and find you don't have one of the necessary ingredients for your recipe. Thank goodness for friendly community of people living in a small mining town and their combined knowledge of cooking substitutions (and by occassionally borrowing an ingredient) no one every had to waste a meal because of a missing ingredient.

A list of food substitutes and cooking substitutes that might be useful the next time you are baking or cooking and find you don't have one of the ingredients for the recipe.

Grateful thanks to the long ago Eagle Mountain, California Kaiser Steel Mining Company community for many of the substitutions listed below.
