Is It a Cold or Allergies?
Even doctors have a hard time telling if it's a cold or if it's allergies. Colds are caused by viruses, while allergies are caused by an overactive immune system. View a chart that shows some of the differences between an allergy and a cold.
What Causes Allergies?
6. Insect Venom
7. Pet and other Animal Dander
What Body Parts Are Affected?
Allergens that you breathe in can cause a stuffy, itchy nose and throat, mucus production, cough and wheezing. Allergens that touch the eyes may cause itchy, watery, red, and swollen eyes. Food you are allergic to can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, cramping, diarrhea, or a severe, life-threatening reaction. Allergens that touch the skin can cause a skin rash, hives, itching, blisters, or skin peeling. Drug allergies usually involve the whole body and can lead to a variety of symptoms.
During April and May the most common pollen causing hay fever is from trees. During June and July, the pollen is usually from grass. From August until the first frost, the leading cause of hay fever is ragweed pollen>
Treatment for Pollen Caused Allergies:

Locate resources and information about allergies, the symptoms, causes, risks, tests and diagnosis, complications, treatments, drugs, home remedies, alternative medicine, and more.
Allergies can't be cured, but treatments can help relieve the symptoms. Mayo Clinic starts with a definition of allergies, then lists the symptoms of the various allergies, the causes, risks, the complications, tests and diagnosis such as detailed questions about your symptoms, a detailed dairy of the foods you eat, recommend a skin test or a blood test or other specific tests. Treatments may include allergen avoidance, medications to reduce symptoms, immunotherapy for severe allergies, and may give you an epinephrine shot to carry with you at all times for emergency situations.
Wikipedia gives a detailed in-depth description of allergy, signs and symptoms, causes, pathophysiology (acute response and late-phase response), diagnosis, management, epidemiology, the history or concept of allergy, and explains what an allergist is. At the end of this article, under SEE ALSO, click on List of Allergies for a list foods, drugs, environments and water with potential reactions and remarks.
