Basic Salad Recipe

A basic lettuce salad for beginner's that's quick and easy to put together.

Ingredients

1 head of lettuce
12 to 15 cherry tomatoes
2 or 3 scallions (green onions)
1 cucumber
1/4 to 1/2 red or green pepper
1 cucumber
1 bottle of your favorite salad dressing.

Directions

  • Rinse the head of lettuce in cold water and drain. Tear lettuce into bit sized pieces and place into a large bowl.
  • Rinse and drain the cherry tomatoes and place in the bowl.
  • Slice the scallions (green onions) into 1/2 to 1 inch slices and toss into the bowl.
  • Rinse the red pepper, cut into and remove the seeds. Cut into slices, then cut the slices into 1/2 inch pieces. Place into the bowl.
  • Peel the cucumber and slice thin. Put into the bowl with the rest of the salad.

    • Serving Suggestions:

    1. Place the salad into individual serving bowls, set the bottle of salad dressing on the table with the individual bowls, and enjoy.

    Alternate Recipe Suggestions:

  • Throw a handful of salad bread cubes into the salad before serving, or toast a couple of slices of bread, lightly butter the toast, sprinkle some garlic or Italian seasoning onto the bread, cut into 1/2 inch squares and add to the salad.
