Honey Bread RecipeWhen Granny made this honey bread we couldn't wait for it to come out of the oven. We all had to have just one slice spread with butter before we even thought about eating our supper.
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup milk
1 egg (slightly beaten)
1/2 cup honey
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, ginger and cinnamon in a large bowl. Add the milk, egg and honey. Beat with an electric mixer for about 20 minutes.
(Yes, I know this seems like a long time to beat this mixture, but this is the way Granny made it and it turned out just fine every time I followed these directions.)
Now spoon the mixture into a very well buttered loaf pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Cool thoroughly on a rack. To the Food and Beverage Clip Art
