It was January and a cold winter morning when the air/heat unit on my cousins home decided to quit. It would take a few hours before the repairman could fix the unit so my cousin layered her clothing and bundled up. She grabbed her cup of coffee and powered up the computer to clear email and get a start on her online project.
Before long her hands turned so cold that it became difficult to type. The only gloves she had were her leather driving gloves. She tried them but couldn't type with them on. My cousin though for a few moments, then went into the bedroom, opened a dresser drawer and dug out a pair of white cotton socks that were a bit worn. She slit a tiny hole in the heal of one of the socks, pushed her thumb through it, and had a nice white mitten to wear. She then pulled the toe part of the sock past her fingers and cut it off. Now she had a white cotton mitten with just the ends of the fingers sticking out. Doing the same thing to the other sock, she found she could type comfortably while her hands stayed warn and cozy.
My cousin used ingenuity to create typing mittens when her heat unit quit working in her home and her fingers became to cold to type comfortable. Yes, a woman's ingenuity is the ability to creatively provide needs from available items.
